Yes apart from this section, there is also lots of slack in the Udupi Majn section. Nasik to Panvel as well. In non monsoon TT it regularly reached MAJN almost 1 hr before and ERS as well almost an hour before. There are rumours doing the rounds that SR is pushing for conversion to LHB post which we can surely expect speed up. Maybe a delay in dep from NZM & early arrival in ERS
Most of the trains including those which belong to CR have slack in NK-PNVL due to ghats and PSRs. Yes, slack can be reduced to some extent in KR but again chances are bleak as the zone changes from UD to MAJN. They would try to keep maximum at that point. By the way, has SR sent any official proposal for giving LHB to this train?
As per the annual plan SR had a list of trains for LHB conversion for the year and almost all of them have been converted. GT & PNBE ERS (weekly) were pending and now GT has also been done. So only PNBE ERS remains. What I have heard that the plan for accommodating Mangala is trying to be pushed. Not sure if it will happen as 6rakes are required. Its easy to get LHB for trains with lesser frequency.
Its possible if SR is really in favour of giving LHB just like how it did it for Kerala express. Atleast, phased conversion can be done. 3-4 rakes LHB, 2 ICF rakes in the beginning and finally, all rakes can be converted.
Yes giving phase wise is also a option. With lots of sections in NR now approved for 130mps, those divisions are themselves requesting parent zones to convert trains to LHB to gain time.

There are reports that it is being prioritised for LHB as well ( 6 rakes required). Once it gets converted to LHB overall running tine is also likely to get reduced ( because of MPS in certain sections in NR 130km/hr & also excessive slack of this train will be reduced CLT-ERS section). A little late dep from NZM as compared to current time and an early morning arrival in ERS
if sr cant lhb this train due to lack of funds better give this train to nr... this train uses 25 yrs old coaches too...very pathetic condition...

CR ne kuchh bhi reject nahi kiya tha usko kya lena dena tha SR division ki train ka usme CR ka loco bhi use nahi hai
Probably KR will give eloco when the whole route becomes completely electrified
Mera ye matlab tha jab tak pura electrification nahi hojayega tab tak KR passenger trains ko eloco ke saat haul nahi karnedega.
