The Eastern Railway Men's Union (ERMU) and Eastern Railway Men's Congress (ERMC) were the recognized unions in the previous election in 2013 and will be vying for recognition once again. The All India Railwaymen's Federation (AIRF), the National Federation of Indian Railwaymen (NFIR), and the Bharatiya Railway Mazdoor Sangh (BRMS) have instructed their respective union leaders to prepare for the elections.
