ശബരി റെയിൽപാത; കേന്ദ്ര നിലപാടിൽ തകരുമോ മലനാടിന്റെ സ്വപ്നം...The Sabarimala rail line, a long-awaited dream for Kerala, is crucial for facilitating pilgrimage to Sabarimala and boosting development in the state's mountainous regions. The 14-station Angamaly-Erumeli route, with plans for electrification for Vande Bharat trains, is expected to bring development to the hilly areas of Ernakulam, Kottayam, and Idukki districts....

While the state government has pledged to contribute half the estimated cost of ₹3800 crore, the KIFB, which was to fund this contribution, is currently unable to commit to new projects due to Supreme Court proceedings regarding the state's debt. Meanwhile, the Central government has prioritized the Chengannur-Pamba route, leaving the Sabarimala line in limbo. The delay in reaching a cost-sharing agreement with the Centre poses a risk to the project's realization. The Sabarimala Rail Action Council Federation has questioned why Kerala is unable to allocate ₹2000 crore from its ₹1 lakh crore budget to rail development. The Sabarimala rail line project, initially proposed in the 1997-98 Rail Budget, has faced delays despite receiving construction approval. Kerala has already spent ₹264 crore on the project, including a seven-kilometer stretch up to Kalady and a bridge across the Periyar River. The remaining 104-kilometer stretch from Kalady to Erumeli is yet to be completed. The central government had allocated ₹200 crore in the last two budgets, but the funds remain unspent due to the lack of an approved estimate.
Kerala ka bahut samay se sapna hai Sabarimala rail line, jo Sabarimala pilgrimage ke liye bahut jaruri hai aur state ke mountainous regions mein vikas laane mein madad karega. State government ₹3800 crore ke estimated cost ka aadha kharcha dene ko taiyaar hai, lekin KIFB, jo yeh contribution fund karne wala tha, Supreme Court mein state ke debt ke case ki wajah se abhi nayi projects pe paisa nahi de pa raha hai. Iske saath hi, Central government ne Chengannur-Pamba route ko priority diya hai, jisse Sabarimala line lathtak hai. Centre ke saath cost-sharing agreement pe decision mein delay hone se project ko nuksan ho sakta hai. Sabarimala Rail Action Council Federation ne yeh sawal uthaya hai ki Kerala ₹1 lakh crore budget mein se ₹2000 crore rail vikas ke liye kyon nahi de pa raha hai. Sabarimala rail line project, jo pehle 1997-98 Rail Budget mein propose kiya gaya tha, usme construction approval milne ke baad bhi delay ho raha hai. Kerala is project pe ₹264 crore pehle hi kharch kar chuka hai, jisme Kalady tak 7 kilometer ki stretch aur Periyar River pe ek bridge bhi shamil hai. Kalady se Erumeli tak baaki 104 kilometer ki stretch abhi banni hai. Central government ne last do budgets mein ₹200 crore allocate kiye the, lekin approved estimate na hone ki wajah se yeh paisa kharch nahi ho paya.
