The situation is further aggravated by ongoing railway work in various sections, disrupting the train schedule, especially for down trains originating from Kolkata. The Itwari station on the main railway line is also undergoing a two-phase blockage until May 10th and again from May 19th to 30th, affecting train services between cities like Shahdol, Rewa, and Tatanagar. The Gonda-Chhapra summer special train is being diverted due to modernization work at Prayagraj station. To combat the heat, the railway has encouraged organizations to set up free water stations at stations, offering alternative water sources beyond the existing water coolers which sometimes dispense hot water due to high demand. The Raipur Railway Division has deployed 104 water coolers across all stations, providing cool drinking water for passengers.
