208 steep curves, enjoying breathtaking views. The NMR's journey began in 1899 from Mettupalayam to Coonoor, expanding to Fernhill in 1907 and finally reaching Ooty in 1908. The iconic blue and cream carriages of the 'Toy Train' have remained unchanged over the years, contributing to its charm. Managed by the Ministry of Railways and maintained by the Southern Railway, the NMR is India's only operational rack railway. The famous 'Chaiyya Chaiyya' song from the film Dil Se was shot on the NMR, further adding to its popularity. First-class and general compartments can be booked through IRCTC.

Ministry of Railways ke dwara manage kiya gaya aur Southern Railway ke dwara maintain kiya gaya, NMR India ki ekmaatr operational rack railway hai.
