more... Besides MCF, Integral Coach Factory (ICF) in Chennai and Rail Coach Factory (RCF) in Kapurthala are also building coaches for the Vande Bharat trains. In the first phase, two sleeper Vande Bharat train sets will be rolled out followed by the rest. MCF has also been tasked to start building push-and-pull train sets with AC and non-AC coach configurations in 2024. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced in the budget that 40,000 ordinary railway coaches will be upgraded to Vande Bharat standards and three major economic railway corridor programs will be implemented, aiming to improve passenger train operations, enhance passenger safety, and increase travel speed.
