Re# 4558403-5
Railways has stopped procuring land for new projects, and has transferred responsibility to its partners in projects. States like Kerala, Karnataka, Goa and Andhra have been less forthcoming with land for projects, and have thus suffered. Kerala especially flatly refused to acquire land for railways, while on the other hand it had been planning for a separate high speed corridor. Don't know if and when the high speed corridor will benefit its people.

Not sure if the high speed rail corridor will every see the light of the day especially in a small densely populated state like KL where land aquisition is a big bottleneck. We have still not been able to double the line between Ernakulam and Trivandrum which is going on since the last decade or so....in these circumstances not sure why so much time and effort is being spent on high speed rail project. Here is a link to an article where E Sreedharan has also expressed doubts over this project ( especially on cost and massive rehabilitation )

This high speed rail will never happen in kerala. The state which dont even have money to pay salary to its employees, can just dream about such projects.
this announcement is just to allocate crores of rupees to some corporations headed by their own people,in the name of project study, feasibility study, detailed project report etc.

I totally agree with Hareesh. High speed rail project is just an eye wash. On thing i want to tell you is that Kerala should be happy that railway penetration is good when you compare with other Southern States. I agree it is a small state. You will get shocked if you want to know about Karnataka. This state has the lowest railway penetration and electrification is only 7% when compared to 73% in Kerala.
