The article says the 'minister has expressed concern over great amount of overstaffing in railways' and on the other hand we have instances where coaches are unmanned due to TTE shortages, loco pilots forced to work longer hours due to reduced manpower. Looks like more manpower in offices and very less on the ground.

I recollect that TTEs used to work religiously, over 30 years ago (before Pay Commissions). They used to check even passengers, not just M/Es. May be the salary needed to be supported with hard work to collect commission from fines collected. But after 7 Pay Commissions, the salaries are so high that with just the salary, they can support 2-3 families without working. Forget coaches of running trains, TCs supposed to man stations are rarely seen these days.

Baah another attempt to fool public.....in this years TT almost all trains were slowed down and now they will get speed up...good it is like giving SALE Discounts...first increase price then give discount....
