* Most probably, both the Kerala Ministers very well know that new Rly HQ shall not be granted, still they are writing to impress the people of their state/constituency
* It is true that presence of zonal/divisional HQs is always pampered with many new trains, projects, investments. It should be mandatory to have traffic study by reputed agencies/experts and suggest new trains, new rail lines etc.
* The Divisions should directly controlled from Delhi and all the zonal HQs should be scrapped. The demand for zones shall be over. All the

divisional HQs shall become powerful like zones.
* A redrawing of boundaries of division should be done throughout IR to make Rly operation more rational. Eg. Shifting of Manglore station to SWR or KR, under construction Naya Raipur Rly station to SECR etc

Pls note no more zones will be formed. For making a zone huge budgetary allocations has to be kept. I agree that there are issues in many zones being favourable to the respective states etc. Thiruvanthapuram Division has some issues with Nagercoil region and all Kerala bound trains are dumped in Mangalore central. Mangalore Central don't have trains towards Hubli, Gulbarga, Bidar etc. There must be realignment in the divisions which will be favourable and i don't think so if some areas are move to Madurai division will make any impact on Thiruvanthapuram Division or by handing over Mangalore area to KR from the current Palghat Division. Pls note no divisions will be winded up by doing this. This notion must be erased. Basically Palghat and Trivanthapuram divisions must have more pit lanes in their areas. Kasargod Station must have pit lanes which is lacking as of now. If politicians...

make their mind then it can happen but that is lacking. If this happen then the current load on Mangalore Central and Mangalore junction can be reduced.
