If KR had repaid its debts, then Mangaluru to Karwar would have been under SWR as there were some news that Konkan railway might be dissolved after it had repaid the debts

KR shall not be able to pay its debts unless Manglore is brought under its jurisdiction. It does not have a single major freight loading destination not it has a single city with even 5 lacs population. So no significant originating paxs as well as freight! It is catch 22 situation.
KR has a much better work culture than normal IR working, if it is merged that work culture may be lost.

KR may have better work culture but KR is not thinking beyond Karmali/Madgaon. Current special trains are terminating at Karmali,Sawantwadi,Ratnagiri and so on. Many people from Coastal Karnataka works at Mumbai , KR could have extended one special dedicated to Goa atleast till Udupi.
KR should have made Karwar as a terminal which has nt happened.
Erstwhile Mangaluru was supposed to be under in KRCL but due to the politics of PGT and SR , it remained with SR
