Re# 2229808-1
UK is credited for inventing Rail transportation & Colonial rulers brought Railways to India just in order to fulfil their vested interests i.e. quick movement of troops to suppress independence moves and to transport raw material from India to feed their factories in UK. Hence railway network was laid with focus on the port cities of Kolkata, Mumbai & Chennai to meet their requirements.
-
A lot of money was syphoned off by charging 9 times (18,000 Pounds per KM) for laying railway tracks in India than just 2,000 Pounds incurred USA.
...
Enormous tax was extorted from Indians to pay for these lines. Another example is Indian Civil Services held in UK (for British Citizens) was the highest paid job of the world! (obviously at the cost of Indian Tax payers!).
-
UK used their advanced weapons and shrewd diplomacy to snatch the administrative control of Indian Subcontinent, one of the richest countries then. Indian Economy, one of the most developed and vibrant in the world, was broken by them to develop their economy. Colonial rulers killed all the industries in India & source of incomes of Indians, by forcing Indians to consume goods exported by them to India.
-
The fact is cream of India/ Asian countries (well qualified/ trained) go to UK (&other countries) for work, contributing to the development/ GDP of these countries and are paid much less than their citizens doing similar work. Today they hate Asians/Indians for "eating away their jobs and damaging their economy".
-
Britain's "historical amnesia" is also a truth, as many countries like Japan have acknowledged and apologised for excesses done by them (during a short span of a decade or so) to other countries in past, where as UK want to take credit for "giving Railways" to India during their centuries long loot! They conveniently forget how they damaged the vibrant Indian economy, and converted one of the richest country into an undeveloped country of poor, during their centuries long rule, when they left India in 1947. And then they start calling themselves as a rich, educated and civilised nation, and rate India as not so civilised, poor & greedy country with a begging bowl(loan seeker)!

British Raj era our Indian Railway s are developed well.During the congress era especially UPA period the Railway portfolio gifted to allied parties and reverse developed in our Railway.
Without additional generation of resources the railway development funds are drastically reduced .
Lalluji / Tirunamul period almost every year Rs 1 reduced fares for the 100 km distances .
...
Example Madurai to Kovilpatti ( 92 km )passenger fares are reduced Rs 1 every year .No more development beyond Chengalpat ,they removed the additional MG line between Tambaram and Chengalpat .
