Even in the ordinary Town / Municipality areas in and around Highways lands could not be taken up for any project.Project executor faces so many hurdles and court cases .Chennai Metro success due to pass in the elevated meridian.Velacherry - Mount line faces so many court cases and diversion .So cost escalates tremendously.

then how the elevated line will join with the line below if it needs to divert somewhere ? it will require much more land then. what about the Road over bridges , what about the power wires which crosses the tracks , now everything will be reorganized, which will cost much more . for your information Velachery - Thomas mount also is an elevated project.

Elevated track line should be connected to the Main Line outside the City/Town limit without much disturbance to the building / any private establishment in city / Town.

bad idea Rlys bowing to residents of Tirunelveli...
..
...

earlier, acres of farm lands have been acquired by rlys. for guage conversion, track doubling from farmers... they do not try hard to object except in few cases like in kalpattichatram in DGL - TPJ line, POY - PTJ line ...
..
but this time, as the residents/ commercial establishments have political influence with MP Vijila, their few cents of land have been left out by Rly by not acquiring and DRM has bowed to their court case by planning an alternative three tier architecture on the intersection instead of 4-lane ROB ... in future, even after constructing 2-lane ROB, if it succeeds, then ok.. if still congestion in road exists in future, then ... residents of nearby localities would face the problem more...
..
believe me, in New Delhi, there existed a plan for 4-way flyover (road) bridge in busiest vasant vihar ... the nearby residents thru court case won and converted to 2-way flyover bridge, to enable a single service lane for vehicles of their area/ locality ... after just 2 yrs passed by, still the honks and jams does not stop in the area connecting Main City on one side and Delhi Airport, suburban town dwarka/ palam, satellite town Gurgaon on the other... traffic police tried different techniques for decongesting the area... by making flyover
one way in morning and return one way in evening, making light vehicles two way in flyovers, etc. etc.. but nothing worked out.. now, they are replanning for building 6-way flyover with additional funds/ design modification and massive land acquisition ...
...
though Tirunelveli is nowhere equivalent to New Delhi traffic, the traffic chaos would continue.. for sure, if planned without thinking of future bowing to residents ...
