Blog Edits:
A long-pending feature - Blog Edits - have now been introduced. The Edit link can be seen to the left of the Reply link. All logged-in members will be able to completely edit their entries - Text, Pictures, Video, Train/Station - for upto 1 hour after initial posting. Salient points:
1. In most cases, we notice flaws in a Blog Post, only after posting. The lack of an Edit feature makes us hesitant to post, until we have checked/rechecked all aspects of the post. This feature will let everyone incrementally and...
more... progressively refine their entry, correct spelling and grammar mistakes. You may quickly post the initial comment, and then examine and make the post better. There is a 1 hour time limit for edits, to prevent abuse of this feature.
2. For Trip Reports/Travelogues and other long entries, further refinement suggestions may be provided by other members after initially posting. Members have 1 hour to incorporate suggestions into their original posts, instead of re-posting or providing corrections in replies.
3. Sometimes, pictures do not upload or videos seem to have broken links. Now you will be able to edit and re-upload pictures or recheck the video link.
4. After one hour, original authors will still have the Edit link available, but the Text, Attachment & Video links will be read-only. They cannot be changed. But you can still change the Train & Station assignment of any entry at any time.
5. All Blog Posts - text/image/video - belong to the person who originally posted, and only he/she can edit. Members/Admins CANNOT change another person's Blog Post at any time.
6. All Admins will still see the Edit links to all entries, including the posts of other members. This is to allow Admins to change Train/Station assignments, not to change the post itself. So, if you see a Blog Post that has not been assigned to a train/station or has been assigned to the wrong train, Admins can edit that Blog Entry and assign the appropriate train/station. This train/station assignment to Blog Entries was once again a long-pending request.
