Anyone remember the Varuna Express?

Calling all train lovers! Today, let's reminisce about the legendary Varuna Express. This pre-pandemic train used to be the go-to for people travelling from Kanpur to Varanasi, stopping at familiar stations like Unnao, Lucknow, and Sultanpur. Those were the good old days!

the problem now: there's no train that directly connects Kanpur and Varanasi anymore. The only options are long-distance trains that come to Kanpur already full of passengers. Not exactly convenient, right?

But there's more to the story. For the people of Unnao, the Varuna Express wasn't just a train, it was a lifesaver. It provided a much-needed daily connection to bigger cities.

Now, there's the 20401/02 Lucknow Varanasi Shuttle Superfast Express, kind of like a new version of the Varuna Express, but it only runs between Lucknow and Varanasi. While it helps people in Lucknow, it leaves Kanpur and Unnao feeling a bit stranded.

So, what's the point? The Varuna Express was more than just a train; it was a crucial connection for many cities and their people. While the 20401/02 exists, it doesn't quite replace the original. Hopefully, someday, the Varuna Express might return, reconnecting cities and making travel easier for everyone!

Varuna was the first choice for MST Travellers. If you coukd sneak out of the office a little prior than Varuna is ready for you. Good priority train. Unnao used avail the services of Varuna to the max. Probably it was more suited for Unnao in the evening (timing wise). LKO BSB Shuttle also is doing good but unreserved trains had their charm pre pandemic. Kanpur Anwarganj - Faizabad Intercity is another victim of this. It was a good train too.

I don't know why but there isn't that feeling of unreserved coaches after COVID.
These unreserved coaches now feels different than before.

There is no more "that feeling" in general Coaches now.

Varuna was really a legendary train of it's time.
One of the lifeline for daily travellers due to its unique timetable.
Varuna express used to help mid-day daily travellers from Lucknow to kanpur and Ayodhya Intercity used to do the same for Kanpur to Lucknow.
These two trains should return back to the network of IR.

There was a time , when in evening at LKO NR, especially standing at FOB, one used to see plenty of MEMUs and Passenger ready to depart from LKO. A wonderful sight indeed!
