Being a Daily Service, it was one of the Highly Demanded trains from Mumbai to Gorakhpur. After the Gauge Completion of Gorakhpur-Narkatiaganj-Muzzafarpur, it was Extended to Muzzafarpur as 5013/14 Bandra Terminus Muzzafarpur Express as a Triweekly Service, breaking the Daily Service of 5063/64 Avadh Express. the 114Up/Down Mumbai Ahmedabad Express was Merged to Form 15Up/Down Mumbai Saurashtra Express with Extension to Porbandar.
-
Just after when this Happened, there was a very hassling agitation from the residents of Ahmedabad and Neighbouring Kheda District, as at that time it was the only Dedicated Fast train between these two cities.
The agitation had turned immense, and it lead to Birth of 11Up/Down ( Today's 19011/12 ) Gujarat Express, as a Dedicated train to Ahmedabad from Mumbai with very Stops in that Era.
-
The Stops were Kheda, Anand, Baroda, Bharuch, Ankleshwar,Surat, Valsad, Dahanu and Dadar.
Initially in those Days, this train used to have a Brown Yellow Livery with a Pantry Car attached to it, which later were withdrawn.
