CMRL.
The statutory certification of Metro System involves, Oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance (EBD) trials to be conducted by RDSO, Lucknow representing the Ministry of Railways as per the relevant provisions. The trials involve running the train in the full section of CMRL track and recording various safety and other parameters related to passenger comfort.
Accordingly, the team of RDSO headed by the Director, testing of Research Designs and Standards Organisation (RDSO) have conducted their Oscillation and Emergency Braking Distance trials during June 2014 between Koyambedu to Alandur section of corridor II of CMRL track and recordings were made.
After validation of the results obtained during the trials, RDSO has issued the Interim Speed Certificate for operation of Standard Gauge Chennai Metro Train from Koyambedu to Alandur section of Corridor II.
With completion of RDSO certification, CMRL has achieved a major milestone in the progress of the project

"Ready, Get Set, Go"
After several delays (read bureaucracy), the test run of the first Metro train will be flagged off by Chief Minister Jayalalithaa today at the #Koyambedu Depot around 1400 hours. The trial runs will be conducted on an 800-meter test track laid within the premises and come December 2013 the trials will happen on the Koyambedu St. Thomas Mount route and reals in mid 2014. Please join me in wishing CMRL a roaring success.
