Have used both 11013/14 a few times b/w SBC and LTT/TNA/PUNE, here are my observations.

This train, after LHBfication, has become an AC Express of sorts! I could almost always see the 2 GN compartments teeming with people. In the ICF days, this used to run with only 6 AC coaches. The LHB coaches used in the rakes are comparatively older, but I have no complaints otherwise.

Booking from SBC to PUNE/TNA/LTT can lead you in WL, so try booking from SA or Hosur to your destination. You will definitely get the bang for the extra buck. Patronage is high for this train.

Though only vegetarian fare from the pantry is on offer, it is quite tasty. Better than the unhygienic and inedible food served on the Udyan express, which gave me a stomach upset.

Coaches are mostly kept clean, even SL in my limited experience. OBHS staff frequent the train at stations such as Solapur and Pune.

Negative 1: Both UP and DN trains can sometimes get very late at SBC, but portions of the delay are made up for afterwards in some cases.

Negative 2: There have been instances of diversions in route resulting in Bengaluru losing direct connection with Mumbai through this train. Even now, as I write this tip, a temporary diversion has been made (could it be to prioritise CBE-BNC VB or could it be to prevent congestion on SSPN single line?).

Travelled on 22476 from MAJN to PNVL in 2A, here are my observations.

Loco link was a shiny new BGKT WAP7, which occasionally clocked 120 kmph between MAJN and UD and between MAO and RN.

coach A4 was fairly well maintained, with the washrooms in very good condition, even after a long run from CBE. Bedrolls offered were clean.

Pantry food is nice, even on par with some of the Rajdhanis (I only tried the vegetarian fare)

Views of the Konkan Railway's Maharashtra segment can be enjoyed in broad daylight.

I had to book my ticket at a short notice, and easily got a confirmed seat.

The only letdown was that the train arrived with only a 2 min delay at MAJN, got more and more delayed and finally reached PNVL with a delay of approx. 1 h 20 min. Luckily, I was not in a hurry.

Overall, a solid 8.5/10.

(I had accidentally put this in the "General travel" section and not as a train tip)

I am a frequent user of this train between Pune and Thane, here are my observations.

Has the same average speed as the DQ. Almost always punctual.

Food served on board is delectable,

especially the bread cutlets.

Push-pull WAP7s that haul this train display sheer aggression. Excellent for railfans.

2S seats are comfortable. Some coaches even have AC Chair-car type seats!

I have traveled in this train many times. Not good in any term, be it punctuality cleanliness or coach conditions. Earlier this used to be the only train between delhi and mangalore and there was no choice (except rajdhani, which is expensive). Now there are much better trains around. LHS coaches are a must for these kind of long distance trains. arrives at a very odd time at mangalore. Avoid if you can.

Rightly said. The train is in a sorry state even after LHBfication. Scheduled arrival time at MAJN is in itself late, and delays only make matters worse.

Travelled on 12618 from PNVL to MAJN in SL at short notice during Christmas season, here are my observations.

Tried to book tickets in 3A and 2A, but got stuck in RLWL, ultimately settling for the lone available seat in SL class. Book your tickets well in advance, especially if you plan to travel during holiday seasons.

coach S6 was jam-packed with people, mostly travelling to Ernakulam from northern India. I somehow made my way to seat number 48 (SUB) in the middle of the coach and could not move to the washrooms without risking my seat.

Link for the day was an ED WAP7, which occasionally ran at sectional MPS of 120 kmph.

From a 30 min delay at PNVL to a 1 h 10 min delay at MAO to an almost on-time arrival (only 5 min delay) at MAJN outer, the train was stopped for a whopping 40 more minutes at MAJN outer. Couldn't get down because the coach was jam-packed and because I had a couple of suitcases.

I had brought my own food, hence I didn't opt for the lunch from the pantry.

Washrooms were okay, at least on my coach. Some uneducated co-passengers threw plastic wrappers and even waste food under the seats. Stringent enforcement of rules is required to prevent such occurences.

However, the views of the beautiful Konkan Railway lightened my spirits.

Overall, if travelling on this train, please avoid booking in SL. Book in AC. Even better, avoid this train altogether. SR accords it step-motherly treatment.

These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
