Dear friends, today one of my friends returned from Ahmedabad to Borivali in AC Chair Car. He had CC ticket booked till Mumbai Central. After alighting at Borivali he boarded local train from Borivali to Andheri in a First Class compartment. He was under the impression that as he had AC CC ticket booked till BCT, he was allowed to travel in mumbai local in first class. But today a TTE caught him and penalized him for ticketless travelling in 1st Class compartment. He was told that only 2AC & first AC ppl can travel in 1st class of Mumbai local. Is there any stated rule which can clarify or confirm this point? Where can we find the exact rule ? Can some one please guide or suggest something on it?

Sorry, a small correction. I just clarified with my friend. Luckily they were not penalized. It was a big group of 7-8 members. Few tickets were booked online (E tickets) and others were booked through PRS. TTE warned them stating that only 2AC & 1AC ticket holders are permitted to travel in 1st class of Mumbai local. Just wanted to cross check this rule.

Dear friends, I have booked a ticket from Chengannur to Panvel by 16334 and have selected boarding point as Ernakullam. Can some one pl help me understand if i can board this train from Chengannur or Kottayam without changing my boarding point in the reservation ticket? As per existing rules, can I be penalized for boarding at any station between Chengannur and Ernakulam? Pl help

Yeah, had to travel with few Sr citizen members. So did not want to take risk with unreserved journey.

If i am not mistaken, there are many trains which have 2S and AC CC for day journey involving over 13 hours of travel. Koyna express is one such example.
The current rake composition of this train may be due to rake sharing with other trains.

That was the need of an hour. This is an excellent train for Assam.
Travel SAFE
1. RailFanning does NOT MEAN dangerous pics/videos.
2. Doorplating pics/youtube videos are strictly FORBIDDEN in IRI.
3. Take plenty of food pics and other safe pics.
4. Write human interest narratives to make the pics interesting.
5. Enjoy blogging and travelling SAFELY.
REMEMBER: YOUR LIFE is the most precious thing, NOT RailFanning.
