Two other gang members, Anoop Singh from Rohtak and Bittu Kumar from Hisar, escaped with a screwdriver used for opening suitcases and other tools. The RPF handed over the two arrested individuals to Tatanagar GRP. A case of theft and recovery was filed against them. Investigations revealed the gang had previously targeted a passenger in Tatanagar in May. Both accused were sent to jail. The gang was suspected in multiple theft cases from trains between Sambalpur and Kharagpur. In February 2023, the Tatanagar RPF and GRP had apprehended Fool Kumar, Dinesh, and Pawan, members of the same gang, while three others escaped. The gang is notorious for operating between Tatanagar and Rourkela, having committed over half a dozen thefts and stolen goods worth over ₹25 lakh. They are known for creating a crowd at the AC coach gate, offering assistance to passengers, and then stealing valuables.
