The Indian Railways is the defination of politics. Most of the decisions and announcements in the Railway budget along with train halts are political in nature. In short, most of the annoucements and decisions are illogical. Now take the Bhopal-Indore DD for instance. The decision to start this DD was politcal. As per reports, there is just no patronage for this train and yet, a AC DD was started. So the bigger question here is, who is responsible for starting this train on this route with no takers? Were the authorities expecting the guys travelling unreserved to patronise this train? Now take, the Mumbai-Goa route. For the record, there are just 3 trains. Most will agree, it is next to impossible to get reserved tickets on this train. Speaking about AC travel, The Konkan Kanya and Mandovi Express run with 4 3AC, 1 and a half 2 AC coaches and...
more... a half 1AC coach. The Jan Shatabdi runs with a single AC chair car and on account of heavy demand, an additional AC chair car has been attached to the train. But this again is temporary and in the next few weeks, the train will revert back to the single AC chair car. The AC compartments always have takers and off late, it can be a herculian task to get AC berths in the monsoon as well. Now, here is a route, that has a heavy demand and a double decker is the need of the hour. Yet, the authorities are not ready to transfer the rake to the CR for testing purpose. This only proves, the railways are making money on the KR route and providing all the luxuries some where else. This is not strange as the people managing the Railways are definately not there on merit, so what can you expect?
