Various Railway user groups and activists also comprising of ZRUCC and DRUCC members from Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad and Mangalore from Kerala are pulling up socks to urge for formation of South West Coast Railway (SWCoR) zone bringing Thiruvananthapuram, Palakkad and Mangalore divisions into one zonal structure with Thiruvananthapuram as its Zonal Headquarter. The demand for separate Railway zone is growing eversince the demand for formation of a new Mangalore Division has picked up, particularly after Railway Minister Mr.Kharge announced formation of Gulbarga Division recently.
Southern Railway covers the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry and small portions of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

This zone of the Indian Railways differs from the other zones of India in that its revenue is derived from passengers and not from freight.
Still if it is getting bifuricated on any means ultimately it would be the loss of revenue to the entire SR..
