Afaik, the stoppage of a trains depends of the following criteria.
1. Total sale of tickets in Up & down for all trains already stopping at the station, distance-Wise, class-wise and cost-wise
2. Trains already stopping/availability of alternate services & convinence & occupancy of existing services.
3. Affect on line Capacity of the section and punctuality of trains

5. Nature of the train & occupancy of the trains for which stoppage is demanded
6. operational constraints
7. Pattern of traffic at the station.
8. Passing time of the train at the station.

1. The Minimum number of sale of tickets to be sold at the station so as to recover the cost should be 40 or more for sleeper class for a distance of 500 Kms or its equivalent in terms of cost for mixed class of passengers like Air Condition, General and Distances( Multiple of 100 Kms) towards/from destination/originating station of the train.
2. No stoppage to be provided when the train is passing at odd hours.
3. No additional stoppage to be provided to Long Distance trains on the suburban Section.
4. No additional stoppage to be provided to a section having capacity utilisation above 90%
5. For the stoppage of Passenger trains, the existing Instructions holds good.
--> At present, the stoppage of a train ranges between Rs 4376 to Rs 5396
