The proposal to increase the speed of trains on the Irugur-Coimbatore section from 70 km/hr to 100 km/hr has been submitted for approval of Railway Board.

Over whelming response to Science express.
The no. of visitors to the science express witnessed a quantum jump on the 2nd day. On day 1, there were 7,154 visitors from 47 schools and 480 general visitors. On day 2, there were 11,389 visitors from 70 schools and 680 general visitors.
The no. of visitors who visited the kid's zone and joy of science laboratory and no. of teachers who attended the teachers orientation programme was also encouraging.

Members of the SRMU staged a protest at the CBE Jn,. demanding to fill the vacancies in the Mechanical dept. and Electrical dept. in the SA div. of SR.
The staff strength should be increased in accordance with the introduction of new trains. The existing staff feel overburdened which finally results in the deterioration of quality.The workers already struggling to service the designated trains are getting burdened with new train introduced.

The GM of SR Mr.Rakesh Misra said the demand of CBE people for a daily over night express train from CBE to SBC was genuine as there was enough passenger traffic and all SBC bound passengers from CBE could not be accommodated in the passing-through trains because of quota constraints.
The GM told DRM,SA Div,.to pursue the proposal for introduction of an ONT in the CBE-SBC-CBE section.
