Mandovi and Konkankanya Express get ISO certificate
Mumbai, July 16 (UNI) Konkan Railways run-Mandovi Express and Konkankanya Express trains, and the newly-introduced on-board services on the two have been awarded ISO 9001:2000 certificate. The rakes of these two trains belong to Konkan Railway and the Corporation has made considerable efforts in providing quality service to passengers. The catering in these trains is a huge hit with passengers and includes a very sumptuous fare of South Indian delicacies, Chinese etc. Konkan Railway has made an effort to be different from other railways and make the train journey as pleasant and blissful as the joy of reaching the destination. Recently, Konkan Railway has also introduced on-board services in these two trains. This includes providing liquid soap, tissue paper in toilets in AC coaches, spraying air fresheners in AC coaches, periodical cleaning of toilets during the journey of train in all coaches of the trains, mopping and sweeping of all coaches, use of disinfectants in toilets of all coaches, and providing good quality toilet soap to confirmed passengers in 1AC and 2AC coaches. The areas covered in ISO certification of coach maintenance are top deck cleanliness, maintenance of passenger amenities in coaches, and undergear safety equipment examination of the rakes. The process of certification started with defining a Quality Policy, standardizing all record maintenance, and orientation of supervisors and staff towards maintaining quality standards. Konkan Railway had also received ISO 9001:2000 certification for Ratnagiri and Madgaon railway stations in last two years.
