The coastal region of Talaja, Ghogha, and Mahuva in Bhavnagar district, despite being a part of India for over seven decades, remains underdeveloped. To address this, the Coastal Railway project, previously proposed, needs to be implemented. The growth engine for the coastal region lies in this railway project, which has been...

significantly delayed. A preliminary survey for the Coastal Railway was conducted a decade ago to connect the coastal areas of Mahuva, Talaja, Alang, Ghogha, and Bhavnagar with a broad-gauge railway, replacing the existing narrow-gauge railway that was closed in 1986. However, this project has not progressed. Leaders and representatives from the region have failed to raise this issue effectively. The Bhavnagar-Talaja-Mahuva railway line, which was abandoned three and a half decades ago, had valuable infrastructure including buildings, tracks, bridges, and culverts in excellent condition. The lack of utilization of this valuable asset, worth billions of rupees, is a matter of concern. The project requires the active participation of local leaders, elected representatives, and the public to ensure its success. The recent Union Budget included three major railway projects, including the Port Connectivity Corridor, which aims to connect all ports. This provides an opportunity to include Bhavnagar's ports and realize the Coastal Railway project. Industry associations and public representatives need to actively advocate for this project.

Bhavnagar district ke Talaja, Ghogha, aur Mahuva ke coastal area, azaadi ke 7 decades se bhi zyada time se, kaafi underdeveloped hai. Isse improve karne ke liye, Coastal Railway project, jo pehle propose kiya gaya tha, use implement karna zaroori hai. Is coastal area ka growth engine, yehi railway project hai,...

jo kaafi delay ho chuka hai. Around 10 years ago, Saurashtra ke ek bahut underdeveloped coastal area mein Coastal Railway start karne ke liye ek preliminary survey kiya gaya tha. Us time, Talaja, Mahuva, Alang, Ghogha, and Bhavnagar ke coastal areas ko ek broad-gauge railway se connect karne ki plan thi, jisse 1986 mein band kar di gayi narrow-gauge railway ko replace kiya jaata. Lekin ye project aage nahi badh saka. Is area ke leaders aur representatives, is issue ko effectively uthana mein fail ho gaye. Bhavnagar-Talaja-Mahuva railway line, jo 3.5 decades pehle band ki gayi thi, mein buildings, tracks, bridges, and culverts jaise valuable infrastructure thi, jo bahut acche condition mein thi. Is valuable asset ka use nahi karne ka sawaal hai, jiska value billions of rupees hai. Is project ke liye, local leaders, elected representatives, aur public ki active participation ki zaroorat hai. Latest Union Budget mein, three major railway projects announce kiye gaye the, jisme Port Connectivity Corridor bhi hai, jo saare ports ko connect karne ke liye hai. Ye Bhavnagar ke ports ko include karne ka aur Coastal Railway project ko complete karne ka ek opportunity hai. Industry associations and public representatives ko is project ke liye actively advocate karna chahiye.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
