Budget Constraints Delay Lucknow Metro's Second Corridor, 11-Km Stretch To Improve Access To Old City

Lucknow's second metro line, the East-West corridor, connecting Vasant Kunj to Charbagh, won't be funded in the 2024-25 state budget despite Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath's approval in January. The 11.16 km line with 12 stations will run through congested Old Lucknow areas. The Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) is currently...

operating the 22.88 km North-South corridor. The East-West corridor, approved by the Chief Minister, is now awaiting approval for its detailed project report (DPR) from the Cabinet and the Public Investment Board. The revised DPR for the Charbagh-Vasant Kunj line was submitted by the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) in 2022. The line will consist of 4.286 km elevated section and 6.879 km underground section. There will be 7 underground stations: Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Station, KGMU Crossing, and Nawazganj. The 4 elevated stations are Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musa Bagh, and Vasant Kunj. The estimated cost is Rs 5,880 crore, and the project is expected to take 5 years to complete. This line will benefit Old City residents and boost metro ridership, leading to increased revenue.

Lucknow mein metro network ka expansion thoda aur wait karna padega, kyunki 2024-25 ke state budget mein Lucknow Metro ki second line ko fund nahi mila. Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath ne is saal January mein East-West Corridor ke construction ko approval diya tha. Yeh 11.16 km lamba corridor, 12 stations...

Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation (UPMRC) abhi 22.88 km lamba North-South corridor operate kar raha hai. Chief Minister se approval milne ke baad, UPMRC ab Cabinet aur Public Investment Board se approval ke liye second corridor ka detailed project report (DPR) submit karega. 2022 mein, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) ne Charbagh-Vasant Kunj Blue line ke liye revised detailed project report (DPR) submit kiya tha. Is line mein 4.286 km elevated section aur 6.879 km underground section hoga. Ismein 7 underground stations honge: Charbagh, Gautam Buddha Marg, Aminabad, Pandeyganj, City Station, KGMU Crossing, aur Nawazganj. 4 elevated stations honge: Thakurganj, Balaganj, Sarfarazganj, Musa Bagh, aur Vasant Kunj. Is project ki estimated cost Rs 5,880 crore hai, aur yeh 5 saal mein complete hone ki ummid hai. Yeh line Old City ke residents ko faida dega aur metro mein commuter traffic badhayega, jisse revenue increase hoga.
