Along with other trains like DHN-Allp, Raptisagar group, Korba and Indore TVC, Sabari was also intially supposed to by pass SRR. The passenger associations from Calicut side wanted it to come to SRR as there was no Hyd train for them and SRR was a good option . So except Sabari all other trains started by passing SRR. Ideally now Sabari can easily save close to 1 hr. But it depends on SR (TVC div) if they are willing to receive it earlier in TVC or not

This train has always been at odds with both zones, SCR and SR. There was a plan to make it SF with PM at TVC and Turn around at SC. SR rejected it. Maybe now such a plan can come to completion. Also, SR just kept increasing it's run time between TVC and CBE. Earlier 17229 used to depart from TVC at 0715. 17230 always reaches early at QLN by 30-40 min. Now whole track between KYJ and ERN is doubled but SR is not in a mood to speed it up. Even SCR can speed it up in the GNT SC section. This notice, however, was different.
