Here are some of the tips based on my couple of visits to BDTS:
1. Connectivity with suburban local stations:
The biggest issue with this station is the connectivity with any mumbai suburban local stations. This issue is now resolved to some extent as a new bridge has been commissioned from Khar Road station which takes you directly from Khar Road to Bandra...
more... Terminus. So instead of using Bandra suburban station from a local train, you should deboard at Khar Road. If you don't prefer to walk, take an auto from either Khar Road or Bandra.
2. Bridge/Subway Accessibility:
The foot over bridge at Dadar end of the station is designed by someone who was drunk. It covers only PF 6 and 7, ends at at a bizzare point without covering all the platforms and without a straight exit. The passengers have to walk additional distances to reach the exit. There is a subway which connects all the platforms as well as the main exit and you should prefer it anytime. It is at the Borivali side of the platform.
3. Waiting hall and seating area:
The waiting hall, retiring rooms are situated at the main entrance at the Borivali end of PF 1. There is a common seating area with ample chairs at the same main entrance area.
4. Buggy Service:
Three buggy vehicles are available for service at the station. They are parked near the main entrance near the seating area near PF 1.. They arrive at the platform just when the train arrives. Don't panic/crawl with the co-passengers if they are full. They come back and forth multiple times.
Charges: 40rs/passenger with a free allowance of an 8kg bag, 20rs/luggage . Contact details in the attached image.
4. App based taxis: App based taxis like Ola and Uber serve the station well and you should use the main exit near PF 1 as the pickup point for a hassle free pickup/drop. Autorickshaw and Black Yellow Taxis charge a bomb and hence avoid them.
5. Cleanliness: During my second visit in 2022, this station was surprisingly clean and very well maintained.
6. Porters: Porters are available at BDTS and you can find them mostly near the AC coaches during the train arrivals and at the main exit during the rest of the time.
Overall: This is a satellite station for MMCT just like LTT is for CSMT. Avoid it and use BVI if possible. If BVI is far off, use the buggy services at this station and book an app based taxi for a smoother commute.
Cheers
