the answer lies in speeding up the sanctioned[under PPP] belgaum dharwad alternative route-which parallels NH 4-then the distance between these two places gets reduced to less than 80 kms-which can be done in 90 mins-but no one seems to be interested in these-it amazes me how railways meekly lay up new branch lines under political pressure but forget such important and strategic moves-which will form alternate trunk routes-this one being the mumbai-pune-b'lore stretch

Belgaum Dharwar line and Davangere Tumkur line would revolutionize Delhi Bangalore railway travel as well as Mumbai Bangalore travel. Karnataka government must aggressively go for these two routes which will transform the economy of Karnataka.

1] Regarding Your First suggestion, of faster connectivity in Pune or Mumbai to Bangalore, I think route must be observed for further development.
Do you know how slow Udyan is between Solapur and Bangalore. Only 42 KM per HR.
2] Once there is improvement on this line, New-Delhi can be connected faster by -

route. KARNATAKA Express follows this same route.
3] Almost all trains have to restrict their speed Between Solapur and Guntakal. This is true. The burden on the single line is the main reason.
We can make it equivalent to Bhopal-Jhansi-Agra-Mathura-Delhi route.
4] I think due to FOREST AREA CONSERVATION, Dharwad-Belgaon route has certain restrictions. Am I correct?

i dont have any thing against solapur guntakal strech-that doesn't mean that the other route shold not be developed;and the new belgaum- dharwad and davangere- tumkur lines pass through flat terrain-if done, this will decongest the solapur guntakal line which you have been so steadfastly supporting;being metre guage in earlier days there were no direct trains here and all trains by default were routed through solapur guntakal-i dont see why new trains not run through this strech which is fast developing economically after gauge conversion;some stretches are being doubled too-eg tumkur-b'lore, birur -chickjajur;

    These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
