Poorna EXpress had a lucky escape from a major derailment at Braganza Ghats

Two defective KR SWR rakes were attached to the rear end of Pune bound 11098 Poorna Express at Madgaon Junction and Bankers were attached to the train later at Kulem Railway station. Due to sharp gradients & curves in this section one of the defective buffers got dismantled from the coach as seen in the video.

The Bankers Loco Pilot who noticed the coach lookng dislodged immediately gave signals to the main Loco pilot and brought the train to a stand still in the middle of the Brganza Ghats soon after Dudh Sagar railway station , the time sense was so apt any delays could have caused a major disaster of all coaches falling off the track.

This section being a single line, it took 2 hours for Railway authorities to reach the spot from Castle Rock which is 10 KM away from this sport . After examining the situation, Gas cutters and welders were called for along with a groupof Engineers to realign the coach & the buffers. It took a good 6 hours for the train to start moving from this sport.
Reached Castle rock at 23:40 hrs and Londa Junction at 00:10 hours and finally the destination Pune late by 4hrs 10 mins.
Delhi bound 12779 Goa Express & Bangalore bound 02779 link express was also delayed due to this incident which was halted at Dudh Sagar Railway station for 5 hours until the complete activity was brought to normal.
