STATUS UPDATE ON SANKRAIL FREIGHT TERMINAL WORK AS ON 06.09.20
Construction work under phase- 1 of Sankrail Freight Terminal has already been commissioned. Other works viz. Ballasting, one Road Over Bridge, new approach road and electrical are in progress in full swing. Loading wharf of line no.8 for unloading of steel consignments has already been completed and loading has started since 15.08.2020.

Also after Shalimar Freight gets fully shifted to Sankrail, more platform and more Pitlines will be constructed at Shalimar. Presently Shalimar stn is constructed as a Terminal for SER with 3 new platforms and 2 new Pitlines are being constructed there at Shalimar, after Freight Terminal at Sankrail gets fully constructed, more platform and more Pitlines will get constructed at Shalimar as huge space available at Shalimar station area

So all trains that originate from Shalimar get maintenance at Shalimar Pitlines only? I have never visited Shalimar so asking.

Yes Shalimar stn is in Howrah district of WB.
Presently 2 Pitlines are under construction at Shalimar. All Shalimar originating trains gets maintained presently at Padmapukur Coaching Terminal which is nearby Shalimar stn only. But with increasing demand of SER, and Santragachi Coaching depot which is the main Depot of SER is full no space. So Padmapukur will share load of Santragachi Coaching depot in future and Shalimar Coaching depot will be independent dedicated for Shalimar originating trains in future. Now 2 New Pitlines are constructed at Shalimar and 3 more are planned in future once full Freight load of Shalimar gets shifted to Sankrail Freight Terminal.

Yes Shalimar in future will take away load from Howrah station and in future all New trains of SER will start from Shalimar and Santragachi stations. Presently i think around 15 to 20 trains start from Shalimar. More nos will increase once Terminal construction gets completed.
