First 25 kV AC loco built by CLW, WAG 1, "Bidhan".
To meet the growing freight hauling capacity requirements of mineral ore in states of Bihar, Odisha, West Bengal and Chattisgarh, IR deployed 25 kV single phase traction based on advice of a French Engineering delegate, led by Nuvioun. The first section under the scheme was Rajkhasarwan Dangoaposi.
B-B locomotives were purchased from a European Consortium called 50 Cycles European Group. It supplied WAM 1 and WAG 1 rated at around 2800 HP.

The loco is preserved at National Rail Museum, New Delhi.
