Akividu-Moturu* section(40KM) was completed mid last year itself and trains are already running on the second track. Electrification was also done.
Remaining:
Vijayawada to Gudivada to Moturu(50 KM) and Gudivada to Machilipatnam Branch Line(40 KM):
The double line almost complete. Electrification was done.
Akividu
...
more...
- Moturu:
Was done fully mid-last year itself and trains are already running in the 40KM section.
Akividu - BVRM(18 KM):
The double line will probably open on Feb 2nd. Electrification is going on.
BVRM - Narasapuram(30 KM):
(There is a bridge work going on in Bhimavaram.)
Only the earthwork was done. Electrical poles were already laid though. The same contractor of the Akividu-BVRM section will now move on to the Narasapur line once that is finished.
Bhimavaram - Nidadavolu (54 KM)
No work was being done. Only earthworks were done. Not even electrical poles laid. This will be the last section to get complete. This will probably start only after the Narasapuram line gets completed. It looks like the IRs priority more towards Narasapuram to Vijayawada.
So all in all 80 KM is still pending as other sections are almost complete and probably will open in a month or two.
They are going in phases. They haven't done it parallelly. Track laying is not really taking that much time because there was nothing just 3 months ago until Bhimavaram and now there is a line. It's just that they are going section-wise. Looking at the recent fast pace, it's clear that it wouldn't really have taken these many years if they really concentrated well.

    These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
