Bombay to Mithapur by Saurashtra Mail - Part 1 (July 1992) : After returning to Bombay from my honeymoon trip, it was time to visit my wife's hometown - Mithapur. Accordingly, we booked a non-AC First Class Coupe on the Saurashtra Mail. I was looking forward to enjoying the Vadodara-Ahmedabad-Rajkot-Mithapur section for the first time. Back then, WCAM1s, WAM4s and WDM2s ruled the WR BG sections. Be sure to enjoy the following:
- Halts at Palghar, Surat, Vadodara, Anand, Ahmedabad, Viramgam
- Brutal overtake by Frontier Mail at Valsad
...

- Skips of Dahanu Road and Navsari
- WAM4s with cool liveries at Ahmedabad
- Steam loco shunting an MG rake at Ahmedabad
- YDM3-hauled MG train (in cream-blue livery) racing a BG train
- MG Suryanagri express (in cream-red livery) on Sabarmati bridge
- The vast yards at Vadodara and Sabarmati
