About VSKP Retiring Room & Dormitory:
1. There's a direct way to the VSKP retiring room from the FOB at BZA end (if you're coming from platforms 2-8). There are signs to guide you. If you're coming from outside, instead of going through the main entrance, turn right towards the premium car parking. At the end, there's another entrance (a pretty big one) to platform 1 where the retiring rooms and the counter are located.
2. Once you arrive at the station, you have to get a slip made in your name at the counter below the retiring room (there are 3 counters - PF ticket, inquiry & RR). Write your name and address on the slip and the person at the counter will sign it. Give that slip to the caretaker and then you can enter your booked accommodation.
3. In the non-AC dormitory, single beds (not bunk style) are arranged in a hall, kinda like a hospital ward. In the AC dormitory, you get your own cubicle with a curtain guarding the entrance to your bed, making sure you have enough privacy. If they had doors instead of curtains, it would be private rooms.
3. The dormitories and washrooms are clean and they're cleaned multiple times during the day. When I stayed there from 12:00 pm to 4:00 am, the dormitory was cleaned 3-4 times.
4. You can bring your own food to the dorm and eat there, no problem.
5. The switches for the fans and lights are at the entrance of the dorm and they're labeled like L1, F1 (for light and fan in dorm 1), L2, F2, and so on.
6. The cooling is good and there are enough fans and lights. The room includes a bed, a locker, a charging point, and a set of 5 hooks for hanging clothes. Nothing else.
7. Last but not least, be prepared for the attendants (usually females) to ask for tips at the time of checkout. When I checked out early in the morning, they came the previous evening itself.
