>>Sir,I strongly believe that fare for bullet train will definitely be lesser than Aircraft Travel, considering Jet Lite, Go air and Indigo are the only budget airlines in India(Considering Kingfisher red to be history soon), their fares are nowhere low as compared to the erstwhile Air deccan, they are almost same..Here are the points supporting my voice:
>>And current ATF rate, today's to be precise is 73.38INR per litre(and no signs of decrease), I dont think air fares will be lesser than any train so soon..
>> of course, the investment towards construction...
more... of a HSR is high, buts its a public Investment, not totally private(correct me if iam wrong), though being built or surveyed by non-Govt entity.so we dont need to expect costs being high.
>> If iam wrong on the above point, We can clearly see the fare difference between MG Road-Bayappanahalli in Bangalore metro and BMTC buses, Bangalore metro is also a high investment entity.
>>In japan, shinkansean is cheaper than JAL(Japan Airlines) or ANA(All Nippon Airlines).
And as far as the route demand is concerned, i dont think anybody can explain better than Mr.Venkat sir..Waiting for his post..

Aditya
