How do I clarify/change the station where I want to catch the train?
Around Christmastime, my family will be taking a trip to Srirangam. Our return train actually has a stop at Srirangam so we would like to board there instead coming back to Trichy and boarding there.
But when we booked the ticket via the IRCTC website, it did not allow us to select Srirangam as the boarding stop, so we picked Trichy instead. The distance from Trichy to Srirangam is just 12 km - takes around 20 mins.

we just board the train at Srirangam instead of Trichy? Is there a chance that they will cancel the reservation if we don't board at Trichy? Is there a way we can communicate with Indian Railways and clarify that we will be boarding at Srirangam so that the reservation will not be cancelled?
Thanks,
Shankari

Once i was booked a tatkal ticket from Howrah to Mumbai in gitanjali exp and want to board the train at chakradharpur , which is very near to my stay place chaibasa(20 kms). The Chaibasa is not in train way.
I written a request letter to station master of chaibasa to allow me to board the train at ckp, which he accepted and write a note on my request letter, which i produce to booking clerk and the boarding station was changed from HWH to Ckp.
Quite contrasting with Dipyama......... is not it.

If you have time, take a copy of e-ticket and id proof and change boarding point at nearest prs and ask for boarding point change.
However, generally for nearby halts, tte comes after crossing both the stations. confirm from co passengers if tte has come b/w tpj and srgm. you may go to tte immediately after boarding at srirangam, and claim your berth before allotment.
(this happened with me b/w mgs and bsb many times. tte had always came after crossing both the stations only.)

For this train and the discussed station, 24 hrs mean last to last night, as charting station is NCJ!!

This is precisely what I was trying to say. If the original boarding point is from an intermediate station which does not sees its own charting, rather the charting is made at a previous intermediate station, then one would need to calculate the 24 hours based on the departure fo the train from the station where the charting is made for the concerned original boarding station.

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
