On top at Tangiriapal:
Tangiriapal is on the Jakhapura-Dangoaposi 'iron-ore freight corridor' of Odisha. The line is being doubled for freight traffic. The line s laid through scenic hills and valleys which were erstwhile 'garh' of naxals. This station is chiselled out of the side of a hill just after the line crosses a valley over a viaduct from Tomka side. It then climbs hill ranges again crossing the eastern ghats unto the plateau. The freight trains rumble to the Paradeep port, though the scale of export to China has come down dramatically. The station is heavenly except for the four poor souls on duty for whom it must be very lonely up there, especially after dark.
