STRANGE BUT TRUE
Have any of you heard of a train stopping one day at Station A but not stopping at Station B and the next day stopping at Station B but not stopping at Station A. Well, then read this.
When 2305 Howrah New Delhi Weekly Rajdhani Express was introduced, its first halt after Howrah was Patna Junction. But influential vote-hungry politicians in Bihar wanted stoppages in Madhupur and Jasidih, which are 29 kms away from each other, and indulged in brickbatting the train to realise their democratic rights. The railway authorities...
more... were willing to concede one stoppage but not both.
In order to keep all parties happy, the train which leaves Howrah on Sundays at 14.05 hrs, would stopone Sunday at Madhupur but not at Jasidih. The next Sunday it would stop at Jasidih but not at Madhupur. Thus both Madhupur and Jasidih were kept in good humour with a FORTNIGHTLY RAJDHANI servive to Patna/New Delhi.
However, the anomaly was later rectified by allowing both stoppages Madhupur at 17.18 hrs. and Jasidih at 17.46 hrs. CHAK DE INDIA.
