(1) Case of BPL is weakened by the fact that it is a setting sun. With spacious Habibganj set to be developed to international standatds, BPL shall lose its importance and future premium trains shall take a halt at HBJ rather than BPL.
(2) Bypass line has already been constructed to facilitate quicker movement of superfast trains bye passing katni. With this step, augmentation of Katni station has become not so important. KTE is not a large enough city to give enough paxs to for trains to spend half an hour in stoppage /reversal.

more... Bina too byepassed, similar case as katni. Extra PF may not be that necessary
(4) Itarsi is the real epicentre of IR network and a mojor junction. Much large number of trains pass through and frequent stoppage at its outer necessitates improvement in layout/ turnouts of Itarsi with the construction of additional platforms.
(5) With 6 platforms and may be with conversion of JBP-Nainpur NG route more PFs may likely be there (how many??), so case for additional PFs is not that strong.
(6) HBJ already being upgraded to international standard, so no interference needed everything shall be taken care of.
(7) Satna –with only 3 platforms larger number of trains are stopping, is a strong case for couple of extra platforms.
(8) Khandwa with 5 PFs is relatively comfortable.
