Hi everyone. This is my 1st trip report. I wanted to travel from Mumbai to Bangalore. I always prefer chalukya express, but this time i decided to circuitous route. I travelled from LTT- UD in 12619- matsyagandha express on 5th september. Then onwards I travelled by the 16516- KAWR-YPR express, which takes the famed green route via SBHR-SKLR. As I was in Mumbai for ganeshotsav after a trip to lalbaugcha raja I boarded 12619 from LTT. It was hauled by a brand new shining ED WDP4D. As 11014 was shunted out of the PF, we got the starter. The “diesel deer” sprang to life with its jet engine noises. As I was in S2, it was the 4th coach and the loco sounds were thunderous. As the TVC division is famed for poor maintenance of coaches, I was surprised to find my coach clean and made in 2015!

we joined the main line near vidyavihar, 12139 CSTM-NGP sewagram express rushed pass my train hauled by AJNI- WAP. Till thane there was a furious race between the WDP4D and the WAP7, which was an ultimate treat to railfans! With each train alternatively racing with each other, finally the race ended with a tie by both trains entering thane simultaneously for the scheduled halt.
My train crawled on and reached panvel 20 minutes late. There I crossed a ratnagiri –pune special which was completely empty. As we headed towards roha, a 2 hour late KCVL-LTT garib rath crossed us. At roha netravati express was waiting and my train halted. After netravati, mandovi express also crossed us and finally 12619 left roha. A board greeted us saying welcome to Konkan railway! My train was already around 1 hour late. After roha we halted before mangaon to allow the nzm bound mao rajdhani to cross. After a scheduled halt at mangaon, where it was already more than an hour late, we again stopped at Veer to allow ajmer bound marusagar express to cross. I was surprised to find marusagar express to have a scheduled halt at veer! Finally I had my dinner and went to sleep I was tired from the days adventures.
I woke up at honnavar, as my train rushed through the beautiful sharavathi bridge. My train was running about an hour late. We stopped at senapura to allow a RORO to cross. I got down at UD at 8.45 and had an hour for 16516 to arrive. It was raining heavily at UD! 11098 poorna express crossed towards kundapura led by a PUNE WDG3A. Then at 9.45 16516 led by a KJM WDG 3A and kasaragod-byndoor passenger arrived at UD. Continued in part 2!

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
