Mal Jn - Changrabandha - Lalmonirhat ( BD) line is one of the oldest line in this region made by Bengal Dooars Railway ( HQ - Domohoni ) around 1894 . Changrabandha is a land border crossing point and a defunct rail transit point with bangladesh in Coochbehar District . In British Period this line with connect the Dooars with Kolkata via Lalmonirhat ( Land Between Teesta & Torsha ) . After Independence this line disconnected with entire system & again it was connected by Assam Link Project on 1949 . The line was the option for the people of Jalpaiguri to connect with Entire district & Assam . But in 1968 flood the line damaged very badly . The three station ( Lalchad , Asmat , Barness ghat ) between Domohoni & Votepotti completely submerged in Teesta River & Track was completely washed out . Barness Ghat was most important...

But as BG line was completed after few years later & It directly connects Assam with Jalpaiguri , the Importance of this lost forever . Later the sevice was started between Domohoni & New Mal jn but it was running on huge loss . Around 2000 when GC started in Siliguri - Alipurduar sec , the MG services is closed in this line .
