Grievance Description : Dear Sir, As per Railway Budget 2015, the Advance reservation period (ARP) has been increased to 120 days from current 60 days. We believe this is not a people-friendly move as no general public members plan their journeys in advance as early as 120 days. Only people who are aware enough about future journeys 4 months in advance are TOUTS / AGENTS / unauthorized middlemen. With ARP increased to 120, they will block the majority of tickets on ARP day and general public will be forced to either book Waitlisted tickets or to procure unauthorized tickets from touts. Hence instead of favouring the people, this move would instead increase the inconvenience and corruption. Conversely, we request the authorities to reduce the ARP to 30 days . And if not 30, at least the same may be continued at 60 days instead of 120 days

Details : Railways have different advance reservation periods for different types of trains, for long distance mail/express trains and Shatabdi Express trains, it has been fixed as 120 days to enable passengers to plan their journey in advance. However, for short distance day journey trains, as well as Suvidha and special trains, it is shorter.
