I have seen very few kids especially boys who do not love trains. As we grow older, the spirit and enthusiasm drops. I loved trains as a Kid and my dad was a railfan in his own way. So this passion continued for me. Same is the case with my son. He loves trains and whether he will continue that love or not depends on me more than him. I have seen parents who find this hobby or love very stupid and ridicule their kids. I know my dad makes fun of me travelling on trains and going to strange locations just to watch trains, but deep inside I am sure he wants to be a part of it if only his body could allow :)

Couple of weeks ago, I travelled with my family in 2A and my son was keen to watch out from the window seat ( I say that trains make a difference as he does not care about a window seat in my car or any bus). The moment he opened up the curtains he was disappointed and his first reaction was "I want the window seat with that horizontal line type rods and not glass". Took me half an hour to convince him.

Kids especially boys love trains and kids love stuff unconditionally. Put these 2 together, there is something about trains and rail travel which brings out the child in you and when you love something unconditionally, true love it is. Enjoy RF company with your son. However my one piece of advice is let him not do stupid things in the lookout for FB likes and IRI greats. Teach him to be safe and enjoy his passion. It is not about taking photos, but about really enjoying some "me" time.
