The Frontier Town of Firozpur has no railway links to Kolkata. As such passengers from West Bengal have to do break journey from Dhanbad, Gaya, Delhi, Lucknow or Ludhiana.
Presenting the first railway connection between Firozpur and Kolkata through a very unconventional route. Connects Bathinda, Sirsa, Hissar, Bhiwani, Rewari and Alwar to Kolkata. Particularly beneficial for Haryana, Rajasthan this train also takes a un-conventional route from Mathura instead of the standard Agra Fort/ Agra Cantt taken up by most expresses. What this does it does is to put Kasganj,Kannauj and Farrukhabad....relative train scarce stations on the journey map as well. All this while being 160kms longer than the shortest route.
The...
more... train joins the Delhi-Howrah main line at Kanpur Central and takes the Grand chord section upto Bardhamaan. Note that this train can be considered for operation only after CNB-ALD-MGS gets upgraded. From Bardhamaan it makes the BWN-HWH main line upto BDC whereby it switches off to the Ranaghat/Krishnanagar-Sealdah line using Naihati as a link.
At DumDum it bifurcates from the Sealdah bound main lines takes a downward 360 degree spiral and terminates at Kolkata.
