AVenkata Subbiah, and
the driver of another
lorry trailing the one
which caused the
accident, Dudekula
Basha, at Guntakal town.
Speaking to The Hindu,
railwayDSP Madhu said
that Subbiah was accused
of illegal mining and
transportation of
minerals, under the
Mines and Minerals
(Regulation and
Development) Act, L9 57,
besides other provisions
ofthe law pertaining to
flouting oftransport
rules. He was illegally
mining granite from a
mine in the Agalai mandal
and subseQuently
transporting the same to
his granite polishing unit
in Tadipatri, said the
police.
Cases were registered
against the truck owner
undei Sections 3O4 (part
2),30+ A,337, 201 ofthe
Indian Penal code,
Section 1.16 of the Indian
Railways Act and Sections. 6 subbiah was
mining granite
from Agalai and
transporting the
same to his unit
in Tadipatri

On the other hand,
Dudekula Basha has been
accused of concealment
ofthe facts (Sec. 20I IPC)
pertaining to the case and
also efforts to tamper
with the evidence.
The said that Basha had
escaped from the scene of
offence, Ieaving his peer
in a'dying state', but at
the same time hiding the
vehicle he was driving in a
nearbyvillage and
absconding without
approaching the
concerned authorities.
Nagaraju, whowas
driving the truck that
caused the accident, was
accused of criminal
negligence and leading to
loss of lives including thatof his own.
