While agreeing to your view that SWR is not only for Karnataka, I would like you to introspect on the following points:
1. SR controls entire stretch of TN and Kerala (except for SA-HSRA-SBC line). Of course, SR has few kilometers in AP and Karnataka (like upto RU in AP and MAQ/ MAJN in KA). So, one can conclude easily conclude that SR is mainly for TN and Kerala. Main intentions of SR would be to provide connectivity from TN/ Kerala to other places wherever people want. Even public are clear that they have to approach only one zone for their train requirements.
2....
more... SWR zone is formed with 3 divisions (all 3 divn HQ in Karnataka). It caters to few kilometers in MH, AP and around 180 Kms in TN. A major part of Karnataka is left out of SWR purview. Mangalore area catered by SR, Gulbarga by CR, Bidar, Raichur by SCR and coastal Karnataka by KR. So, if a train is needed, one has to approach different zones (not different divisions of same zone). Classic case is a requirement of train service from Mangalore to Bidar. One has to approach all the 5 zones which are 'catering' to Karnataka. No one particular zone is interested in developing connectivity within state, since each zone have their own priorities.
3. While this is the case, SWR formed to take care of its territory is neglecting own area population's requirements.
a. There are no trains to connect end to end of their own zone.
b. No dedicated trains from any of the important towns within state to silicon city Bengaluru. Only 6 districts out of 28 districts (excl. Bangalore) have direct dedicated connectivity to Bengaluru.
c. No trains are connecting the ever green destination Goa (Vasco).
d. No trains are running to connect historic important towns of Badami, Pattadakal etc of North karnataka to Belur, Halebidu etc of South Karnataka.
e. Not even one train runs from North Karnataka towns (Hospet/ Hampi, Bijapur, Bagalkot, Belgaum, Hubli) to Pilgrimage towns of Subrahmanya (also Dharmasthala).
f. No proper connectivity to Mysuru to anywhere in Karnataka. All trains are routed via Bengaluru which are of no use to Mysurians.
All the above points are within SWR zone itself. If you want to extend to other areas catered by other zones, pl add connectivity issues of Udupi, Mangalore, Karwar, Gokarna (all coastal Karnataka towns) to North Karnataka towns of Mantralaya, Kudala Sangama, Bidar, etc.
SWR is interested in providing all special, premium, extra, Duronto, etc to major cities of TN/ KL and Zero to Karnataka towns. It is not clear whether they have data to support their actions.
SWR wants to get control of Gulbarga area also. What justice can be expected from SWR towards GR public with this kind of attitude?
SWR's neglect of own area is not only limited to Karnataka. Even Vasco-da-Gama is feeling the heat, just because it is in SWR. Even Hosur, Dharmapuri stretch in Tamilnadu is feeling the heat with no trains to their own state capital Chennai.
I am not talking about Karnataka, I am talking about SWR zone and its way of operations. Now please tell me is there any thing wrong in expecting SWR to act properly to take care of its intended area of operation and its public ??
