ECR may decongest Patna junction from April.
The plan envisages shifting of the originating places of several pairs of passenger trains from Patna Junction to either Danapur or Rajendra Nagar Terminal stations to ensure smooth flow of traffic under Danapur division of the zone, sources said. After the plan gets the go-ahead from the Railway Board, Patna-Pune Express, Patna-Secunderabad Express, Patna-Bengaluru Sanghmitra Express and Patna-Anand Vihar Jansadharan Express will originate from Danapur station instead of Patna Junction, sources said. Similarly, Danapur-Katihar Express, Patna-Kota Express, Danapur-Rajgir Intercity and Danapur-Durg South Bihar Express will originate from Rajendra Nagar Terminal instead of from Danapur, sources said.

more... Patna Junction has 10 platforms, they are unable to cope with increasing traffic flow. At least 260 to 280 passenger and goods trains are either passing or originating from Patna Junction every day. The saturation point on Mughalsarai-Jhajha mainline section of Danapur division has reached about 160% these days.
