Going through FMship removal post which has been archieved, I have a suggestion, I have worked in the past as content monitor for ebay.uk with a BPO where we used to take down the listings which were not listed as per the listing policies. There we used to monitor all the disputes including profanity. Now for this purpose, there were clear guidelines in writing about which words are not allowed. There are disputes always but whether those sentences were containing any profane words was one of the criteria. I think every one should be allowed to express his opinion till the words used are not profane. Let there be a list of profane words. Like the 'dumb' word used which led to removal of FMship. Let there be a list of such words which can't be used so that the decision of removal does not appear to be arbitrary and biased....
more... And let there be suspension kind of action and should be clearly stated that such kind of words will lead to immidiate dismissal or suspension as the case may be. I had done that content monitor job in 2007 and 7-8 years on I see we still far behind in web site monitoring, what we are doing is curbing the freedom of expression, let there be participation with freedom of expression but there should be a list of words which should not be used which becomes then offensive. This way whether member, admin or FM have no bar on expression but a bar of offensive words, in any case we are not speaking but writing which is punishable only if we use wrong words. So let there be a freedom of expression for everyone but no freedom to use profane words, a list of which should always be handy on the site. I really feel there is a curb on freedom of expression on this site which I would like to be guided by a directory of words offensive to use and continue with the expression.
