This tip is for those who want to go to Delhi from Kolkata but can't able to get a seat in any train from Howrah/Sealdah.

If you can't able to get confirmed seat in any train from Howrah/Sealdah to Delhi, there is an alternative option for you. Book any Delhi Bound train from Hijli, but more chances are your WL can be confirmed from Hijli. From Howrah/Sealdah there are less chances.

Here's my recommendations if you are going to Delhi from Hijli.

1) Bhubaneswar Rajdhani: Best train for going to Delhi according to me from Hijli. Takes less time and remains punctual throughout the journey.

2) Purushottam Express: Best non-premium train for going to Delhi from Hijli and my personal choice for going to Delhi. This train goes through the beautiful Chota Nagpur Plateau and services are very good. But the issue is Purushottam Express comes Hijli at the Midnight, safety might be a concern.

3) Nandan Kanan Express: Best non-premium train after Purushottam. Service is very good.

4) Odisha Sampark Kranti Express: Good train, has very good speed and less stops throughout the journey.

5) Neelachal Express: Good train but takes more time.

6) Kalinga Utkal Express: Not recommended to travel, least punctual train in the route.

If you want your favourite seat in General Class of Lucknow Varanasi Shuttle Superfast then follow my trick. This trick is used by most of the daily and experienced travellers and newbies are not familiar with it. From Lucknow, this train departs at 6:00 PM and usually the boarding starts after 5:15 PM. But this train is either already standing at the run-through line between plateforms or at the yard towards Dilkusha Cabin. You can sneak into the train when the train is standing there. Some gates are usually already opened and you can enter into that coach before the train actually enters the plateform. But you have to come 2 hour early to do this trick😜

Useful:एकदम सटीक।
Here in CG/undivided MP in earlier times unemployed youths going to appear for exams/interviews at Bhopal, used to enter CDO in Bilaspur and gatecrash through open doors in the just maintained rake of Chhattisgarh Express in the pitlines itself to secure window seat in General Class. This was in 90's decade.
Today's unemployed youth don't think so much over enjoying on parents income....

Even I have done the similar thing in INDB-HBJ Intercity , it used to be parked in stabling line between PF 3 and 4, so I used to board the GS coach of this train while train being parked there, and I am talking about my college time 10-11 years back.

Stabling line at bpl is bw pf 3 and pf 4, but at Bilaspur CDO is 1.5 kms distant from platforms and also guard is present there to block unauthorized entry, though security is insufficient to watch over 4 pitlines and 3 stable lines.

One thing I've noticed while traveling in Howrah Rajdhani.

Pantry staff selling chips, cakes, cup noodles, Chanachur, Bhujia in Rajdhani Express. That's a new thing in premium trains like Rajdhani.
